In a world lacking in visionary leadership, it is up to the people ourselves to come forward to assert a vision of hope and healing. By mourning in common for our common dead, we aspire, in these terrifying times, to lay a deep, shared foundation for a lasting peace.
On Sunday May 19th, 4:30-6:00pm PST (5:30 MT, 6:30 CT, 7:30 ET) Beyt Tikkun/NSP in conjunction with the Foundation for Ethics and Meaning (FEM) will host our own intimate listening and grieving circle. We created this event in conjunction with the American Friends of Combatants for Peace events to commemorate both Israeli Memorial Day and the Palestinian Nakba Day (of which we are co-sponsors). You can watch their events here.
In our gathering we will hold space to feel into and share emotions that have been coming up within us throughout this extraordinarily painful and challenging period. Our hope is that by listening and grieving together we can become more connected and whole and feel our way into the possibility of another world. You can register for our event below.
The NSP/FEM’s recently released Declaration of Atonement from Jews of Conscience notes how in the Torah the life-long separated brothers, Ishmael and Issac, ultimately reunite over their father Abraham’s grave. In their common grief they rediscover the depths of their common humanity, and actual brotherhood.
We yearn with all our hearts to seek a new and deeper capacity to love the “stranger” for until we are able to recognize each other’s humanity, we will remain strangers in this harsh world.
We hope you can join us.
