Description:
Why not spend Friday night doing Shabbat with Rabbi Lerner and a few others at Rabbi Lerner's home from 7 p.m. (services till about 8:15) and dinner thereafter if you bring something delicious to share with about 10 others.
We may even talk a little about Vayakhel and Pekudey Exodus 35: - 40:38 The whole experience is welcoming to newcomers and those (both Jews and non-Jews) who have had no previous Jewish education, but stimulating, provocative, and a refreshing new perspective for those who have had considerable Jewish education and Torah study. If you stay the whole time from 10-2 you will have a joyous and rewarding experience! 10 a.m. to 12:15 We will study IN ENGLISH the weekly reading and discuss the spiritual, theological, philosophical, social theory, psychological, and political dimensions of the text. 12:15 kiddush (we bless the grape juice and the challah) 12:30-2:00 Vegetarian pot luck for those who attended the Torah study. Bring a delicious main course veggie dish sufficient to feed 10-12 others. It does not have to be vegan, but no meat, chicken, or fish. We will shmooze, sing and learn Shabbat melodies (Zmirot), and do the traditional blessing after the meal (Birkat ha Mazon).
