Occupy Oakland Jewish Contingency

The next Jewish Contingent for Occupy Oakland meeting is happening this Sunday, November 6th, at 11am, at Chochmat HaLev at 2215 Prince Street, Berkeley, 94705.


The Jewish contingent tent is set up at Occupy Oakland  next to the interfaith tent in the area where we are now. the tent needs more signs, a banner, cushions, and siddurs. and if you are inspired to help with the creation of a wishing wall, please contact ashley@tikkun.org

Below is a working schedule (UPDATES IN PARENTHESES) for the jewish contingent tent -- we need you to show up and make these happen!please let me know what you are inspired to do. Wednesday, November 2nd. 

8am set-up for tent (PLEASE BRING YOUR SIGNS OR MAKE THEM THERE)

8:15am shacharit service
8:30am the interfaith clergy will lead a grief ritual

9am is the moment of connection with a native leader for the rally, we join the rally.

10-11am songs/chants/teachings

11am meditation , while the interfaith tent leads their 11am meditation

(11:30AM) -- the interfaith clergy lead a process before the noon rally

noon is the moment of connection with spring washam of the east bay meditation center for the rally, we join the rally.

1pm "wishing wall" ceremony (DANIELLA WILL NEED 1 VOLUNTEER TO HELP MAKE THE WALL AND 1 TO HELP FACILITATE THE RITUAL)

(1:30 – 3PM): participate in interfaith conversation below, with a break-out group for a jewish contingent dialogue on the topic:

 What is Wise Response? 
A conversation about ongoing faith-based responses within Occupy Oakland.
 
The General Strike on November 2nd is only the beginning. How can faith-based people participate in this ongoing movement of resistance? Join Spring Washam with East Bay Meditation Center, Dawn Haney with Buddhist Peace Fellowship, and others to have a conversation about how our practices and teachings can strengthen Occupy Oakland.
 
4pm non-violent preparation and training for the march to shut down the docks


(4:30PM) -- interfaith clergy lead a process before the 5pm rally

5pm moment of connection either by a Universalist unitarian, a Muslim, or a Jew for the rally, we join the rally.

5:45 sacred prayer space for those who don't want to march, including a mincha service followed by a 6:45pm ma'ariv service.

evening open as a connection space, a social gathering place.
